Rev Dr Michael is Co-Pastor of Compassion UMC and St Marks UMC alongside his wife, Jill. He is also a professor, coach, planter, and author of 13 books. Michael is the Director of the Fresh Expressions House of Studies at United Theological Seminary, Director of Fresh Expressions for the Florida Conference, and Director of Fresh Expressions for the United Methodist Church. The Becks lead traditional congregations alongside a network of fresh expressions that gather in tattoo parlors, dog parks, salons, running tracks, community centers, burrito joints, EV charging stations, and digital spaces. Michael earned a Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary Orlando and a Doctorate in Semiotics and Future Studies at Portland Seminary with his mentor Leonard Sweet. He teaches as an adjunct professor at several United Methodist seminaries and is a global thought leader in Fresh Expressions and the missional church.
