Your flight will arrive in London this morning, and your guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to your bus for a panoramic tour of the city. Today, you will have a ticket to the Chelsea Flower Show, the biggest annual event in London. Explore the displays and demonstrations before rejoining the group at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Rebuilt after the Great Fire of London by Christopher Wren, it survived a bomb from World War II and lives as a monument to the spirit of London and God! Dinner is on your own this evening. Spend overnight in London. (B)

Day 4 May 23 – Day Trip to Canterbury

Travel through the English Countryside to Canterbury. Walk through the medieval city center to the Cathedral, filled with Catholic and Anglican heritage and home to the Archbishop who rules over the Anglican Denomination. Then visit the Sissinghurst Castle And Gardens. Lovingly restored by Vitas Sackville-West, the gardens are a gem of British history and beauty. Return to London for dinner on your own and overnight stay. (B)

Day 5 May 24 – Stonehenge and Winchester

Today, you’ll journey to the mystery of ancient Stonehenge. Experience their new welcome center, and then you can walk or ride a tram (at additional cost) to see this UNESCO Heritage Site. Winchester Cathedral, the longest cathedral in Europe, was originally built in 1079. It contains much fine architecture spanning the 11th to the 16th century. If available, the group will stop at Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey is filmed. Check into your Salisbury hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 6 May 25 – Wells, Stourhead, and Salisbury

This morning, travel to Wells Cathedral and visit this 850-year-old Gothic masterpiece. It is also home to one of the oldest Medieval clock faces in the world. Continue on to Stourhead Gardens and experience the wonder of the sights here, ranging from nature’s beauty to the Bristol Cross, A replica of the Temple of Apollo, and more. Return to Salisbury to walk the city center and visit Salisbury Cathedral, where the best-preserved copy of the Magna Carta can be seen in the library. Perhaps stay for an evensong service before having dinner on your own and returning to the hotel. (B)

Day 7 May 26 – Cotswolds and Coventry

Pass through the pastoral Cotswolds, home to thatched roof cottages and villages on your way to Coventry. On the evening of November 14, 1940, a holocaust of bombs and fire destroyed much of Coventry. Experience the pain and triumph of the townspeople when you visit the beautiful cathedral. The charred ruins of the old cathedral sit next to the exciting architecture of the modern cathedral. They stand together as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the British people. Finish the day in Sheffield at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 8 May 27 – York

It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is across from the Palace Green. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (B, D)

The present structure was begun in the late 11th Century during the reign of William the Conqueror and serves the present community as the “ship of the Fens,” towering above the surrounding flatlands. After a walking tour of the city center, visit Kings College, began in 1446 by King Henry VI. Share a farewell dinner before returning to your hotel. (B, D)
